Surf Season in Oriente

The surf season in Oriente is the same as nearby La Libertad. You’ll find better waves in the summer months for sure, especially if you’re looking for intermediate waves. This area really needs a strong southern swell to get pumping. Anything else and you’re likely to find a bunch of peaky waves, chop, and whitewash.

Where to Surf in Oriente

Punta Mango is one of the main waves in the region. A point break right in the town of La Periquera, Punta Mango is a right-hand point break. The consistency is much lower than its cousins up in La Libertad, but when the southern swells come in it produces a beautiful wave. It’s not super beginner-friendly, but intermediates or those learning to turn down the line will find themselves having fun on these quick waves.
