The 3 Best Surf Camps in Guatemala

Not known as a huge surf country, Guatemala offers super reasonable prices and some high quality waves, especially for beginners and intermediates

Why Guatemala?

When you think of top surf nations in Central America, you may not necessarily think of Guatemala first. However, there’s a serious up and coming surf scene in this country right now. A super affordable option (cheaper than Mexico, Costa Rica, or Nicaragua) that offers perfect waves for beginners, Guatemala is an awesome place to learn to surf. In addition to solid beginner and intermediate waves, Guatemala is also a lovely country. The nature, culture, archaeological sites, and volcanoes make it an amazing place to visit, and you’re sure to fall in love at a surf camp in Guatemala.

El Paredón

Home to the surf camps in Guatemala (for now), El Paredón is a chill little town on the Pacific Coast. There are some really nice beginner waves in the area, and can provide solid intermediate waves. The waves here in El Paredón offer a nice way to learn the basics, then learn to ride green water. In addition to the surf, you’ll find a rad little town with a skatepark, tons of delicious food, local art, music, and more. It’s the kind of little surf town you’re not going to want to leave.
