Lobitos Surf Guide

Offshore wind nearly year round

Surf Season in Lobitos
Lobitos works best…. all the time! Waves will be higher in the winter months, but it truly is consistent all year round. It perhaps is one of the most consistent waves on this whole site. One thing to consider is the temperature and water temp. Winter months will be a bit colder and wetsuits might be required for some.
Where to Surf in Lobitos
Lobitos has a handful of breaks due to its unique coastline. La Punta is the most well-known, and we’ll cover a few of the other breaks below. La Punta is a long left that can change quite a bit. You’ll find sections with hard shoulders, mushy parts to pump through, and even some bowls and barrels.

Ideal Wind - E, Light

Surf Camps and Classes in Lobitos
Lobitos is full of options for surf schools. A walk along the beach will give you plenty of places to choose from. Here are two surf camps we can recommend:
Che Lobitos - Close to, but not directly on the beach, Che Lobitos is a nice little double apartment with views of the ocean. A relatively bare-bones surf camp, they have awesome instructors and know the surrounding breaks better than anyone. They offer 4 day and 7 day surf camps.
Surf Lobitos - Pretty straightforward surf school in Peru. I’ve had 0 interaction with them, but have had it recommended by a friend who loved it.

Getting to (and around) Lobitos
Like Mancora, Lobitos is a bit far out there. You can get to Lobitos from Lima via REDBUS or by choosing to rent a car. Either way, we recommend breaking the trip up and stopping somewhere along the day to check out a new place!
You also can fly into the airports Puera, Tumbes, or Talara. They all have direct flights from Lima, and will make your trip a whole lot shorter.
