Solid Gifts for Surfer Girls in Your Life

It’s holiday season here, which has had me thinking about gift ideas for my other half. Over the years, I’ve bought my wife a handful of different gifts related to surfing. The truth is that surfing is simply her favorite thing to do in her free time, and supporting her passion is a great way to go when I’m considering a gift.

Here are a few gift ideas for a surfer girl that we recommend. Remember to keep the individual person in mind, and try to find something they will like and use!

Clothing

First up, here are a few items of surf clothing for women you might consider.

Surf Poncho

A surf poncho is an awesome item to have in your surf bag. It’s super comfortable to cover yourself or change after you get out of the water. This hooded poncho is 100% Turkish cotton and comes in a variety of styles and patterns. With a pocket and hood, this is straight-up one of my wife’s favorite surf gifts I’ve bought for her.

be kind hat

Bucket Hat

Alright, this is a bit of a shameless plug, but we have to put it out there. Our Be Kind bucket hats are made from 100% cotton, fit most heads, and have a poplin sweatband on the inside. Elizabeth loves hers, and we’ve even ordered a few to gift to friends in our lives.

Dakine Surf Cap

We both have one of these hats, and use them regularly. With a rating of UPF 50+, these hats are awesome for sunny days out in the water. The mesh ears allow for more comfort, and you can flip the brim up for paddling. These are solid hats, and ours have taken quite the beating and remained solid.

roxy rash guard

Roxy Rash Guard

All surfers could use more rash guards! Especially if the woman is not using a wetsuit regularly, a nice rash guard is always a great gift. We like the Roxy rash guards that come in a variety of colors and have a rating of UPF 50. Stylish, comfortable, and long-lasting, these rash guards are a favorite in our household.

billabong sweatpants

Sweatpants

Sweatpants are our final item of clothing great for the surfer girl in your life. Give her something comfy to change into when getting out of the water. These Billabong sweatpants are super comfortable, mid-rise pants that are sure to make her feel cozy and warm after a good surf session.

Surfskate

Surfskates are a bit controversial. Some people think they’re silly, while others swear by them. We both love them. They are super fun, give an awesome feeling while skating, and can really help you train your pumping, turns, and carves. It’s a perfect gift for those flat days when you still want to be on a board. There are a lot of different surfskate brands out there. We personally have a YOW and a Carver, but here are a few options.

Penny Australia

Penny boards are a small, classic board made of plastic. Definitely one of the more economic options, they offer a nice introduction to surf skating.

Carver

One of the staples in the surfskate world, Carvers are a solid and durable option. They are generally regarded as best for cruising in a surfskate style, and we use ours to go to the store or head down to the beach.

YOW (Your Own Wave)

Our favorite surfskate brand personally. A great surf trainer, but can still cruise on it. It mimics the movements and turning of a surfboard as well as any board, and is simply super fun to ride either around town or at the skatepark.

Balance Board

kahuna balance board

Balance boards are a great way to practice your balance, work your muscles, and have some fun in the off-time from surfing. We use our balance board several times a week while chilling and watching TV. It builds a lot of muscle and stability in the core, legs, and ankles to help keep the body healthy and prevent common surf injuries. In our opinion, a must-have for any surfer! There are a lot of big brands out there. We use Kahuna, a small company run by a couple in Mexico, and love their beautiful and durable boards!

dakine surf backpack

Surf Backpack

A backpack is a must-have for surfers and included in our surf trip packing list for a reason. This Dakine backpack is 33 liters, and has an insulated pocket to keep snacks in. You can even stick it in the washing machine if you need to clean it! Super spacious, sturdy, and with cool patterns, this will surely be a hit with the surfer girl in your life.

Surf Accessories

Finally, we have a few little surf accessories. These can be great standalone gifts, stocking stuffers during Christmas, or little side gifts!

sex wax

Wax

Every surfer always needs more wax, simple as that. There are a variety of different brands and hardness made for different water temperatures, so make sure to buy the right one for where you live and surf!

Ding Tape

Ding Tape

Hopefully never needed, but great to have in your pack. Dings happen unfortunately, and ding tape is a super useful thing to have to fix any problems on the go. Perhaps not the best long-term solution, ding tape will at least keep you in the water and keep your board safe until a proper repair can be done.

all good sunscreen

Sunscreen

We’ve written before about finding the right reef-safe sunscreen for surfing, and All Good is simply our favorite. All Good tops our list of our favorite sunscreens for surfing for several reasons. First, it’s mineral-based and doesn’t harm the reef or marine life as you surf! Next, it stays on super well. A few splashes or duck dives won’t leave you without sunscreen on your face. Finally, it goes on smoother than a lot of other mineral-based sunscreen.
